Welcome to Stiffy's Stock Picks, where you can find out all about the investment ideas and philosophies of Jon Stiffy.
This is NOT AN INVESTMENT ADVICE SITE (so please read the disclaimer in the Watch List section).
Jon is also a founder of the Fireside Investing Group as well
as FiresideInvesting.com, which will be going live on March 1, 2006. In addition to stocks,
Jon is an avid numismatist (someone who collects coins and medals), and also has experience in currency trades. He
is a value-focused equity investor, but takes a great interest in investment theories emerging in this new age of increased
participation by smaller investors in the marketplace and how the speed of information and media impact market efficiency.
Aside from researching stocks, Jon is currently working with professors at his alma mater, Clarion University, on a stock
options research project to be presented to the Academy of Finance in March 2006. This project aims to establish which
of the two leading options pricing models is more accurate in pricing options closer to market prices. The two
options pricing models in question are the Black-Scholes model and the Cox-Ross-Rubinstein Binomial model. The findings
of this study will be of immense importance due to new rules mandating that firms expense stock options. To find out
more about this project, check out the paper's abstract under the "News and Articles" section of this site.
